My family and I have decided to start a business growing raspberries and Elderberries. These will be ready to sell this coming summer/fall, however with it being our first year we won’t have much produce until summer 2025.
The produce we are planning to have available in the coming year will be frozen elderberries, freeze-dried elderberries, jellies, jams, tarts, pies, syrups, gummies, and shrubs. We will be offering produce from the elderflower as well, such as the elderflower cordial; a sweet, delightful drink containing a multitude of health benefits.
Our Location
We are located near the village of Sombra, between the beautiful St. Clair River and the 40 Hwy on Bentpath line.
Our Focus
With two acres of various types of elderberries; we have Ranch, Bob Gordon, Wyldewood, York, Kent, and Berry Hill. In addition, we also have two kinds of Raspberries, Kalarnies and Joan J.
We are hoping to expand with a few more acres of the elder plants in the next year. The great thing with these plants is that they will adapt to our climate/soil, so the ones that take off and grow will be able to be collected in the form of cuttings, which we will then be able to use to expand in the coming years. These cuttings will also eventually be up for sale for you to grow your own once we get going.
